This week, Ellen is on the road and taping her shows in Orlando at the Universal Studios theme park. Since I am a big Ellen fan (she is bigger than Oprah!!), and since it was 30C in Orlando - see my post below about winter in Chicago...-, and to celebrate Maria's birthday ( I am legally restricted to disclose the age!) it seemed a perfect opportunity to go and visit them.
Of course I had offered to help Bonnie and Maria with the preparations for the show. Big mistake!! On this show, Paula Dean (famous tv chef from Savannah, Georgia) and her sons were presenting Ellen with a scrumptious southern brunch, including Bloody Mary's. The work needed to get all the food ready for rehearsals and live taping of the show is unbelievable. A comedy of errors added to the stress factors; a fridge being locked with all the prepared food, a sous chef that had no clue, a hot box on fire with all our prepared food in it, peanut butter melting on the set, me doing a split while carrying eggs (amazing how nimble I am!), the outdoor stove overheating etc.. etc..
Anyway, we had a great time. I soooo admire Bonnie for what she does now.
And I will come back and help out one time, but not real soon..
