Life-Work Balance

Back in the office!! My first workday was Monday. Talk in my team is all about life-work balance. Obviously, they all envy my 3 weeks vacation (which is unheard of here in the US!) over Christmas and New Years!

My first week was spent in Rio de Janeiro where I met up with Hans and Robert.

For my second week I returned to Chicago, where my mom, brother Winfried and nephew Timo came to visit me for Christmas. As well as my cousin Maria, who flew in from Los Angeles for Christmas dinner at my place! This was my first Christmas in Chicago, and ofcourse... no snow!!!

And my 3rd weeks vacation was spent in Mallorca with my friends Nico, Kristien, Cor, Luc, Sjors and Lilian. New Years Eve started with our traditional hike upto Juan's cabin in the mountains above Soller. The 'wild bird paella' cooked over open fire. tasted fantastic with the many bottles of champagne and rioja. Not sure how we made it back down the mountain but we made it backin time for the New Year's celebration in down-town Soller!

The hike of all hikes to the tallest peak in Mallorca (the Massanella @ 1352 meters) two days later was another 6-hour adventure. The stories from that trip alone would justify a seperate blog! May be some other time:-)

So back to the Life-Work balance!
Spending time in Europe made me realise again that life-work balance has certainly been lacking. 2006 was a crazy year, with an insane work and travel schedule. So, my only resolution for 2007 (ok, ok... I will also attempt to loose 10 pounds), is to achieve a healthier life-work balance.

Wish me luck!

I am off to London this weekend.
